SUSI Programs for University-Level and Faculty Members:

The Study of the United States Institutes are six intensive six-week post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours. The purpose of the Institutes is to provide foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of American society, culture and institutions. The ultimate goal is to strengthen curricula and to improve the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad. The six Institutes are:

· American Politics and Political Thought
· Contemporary American Literature
· U.S. Foreign Policy
· Journalism and Media
· Religious Pluralism
· U.S. Culture and Society

SUSI Programs for Secondary School Educators:

These Institutes are an opportunity for secondary school teachers, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers, and other educational professionals to attend a six-week post-graduate seminar in the United States.

All of the institute programs require excellent proficiency in English and outstanding qualifications, as these programs are extremely competitive. Applicants should be mid-career, between the ages of 25-50. Applicants must be Palestinians resident in East Jerusalem, Gaza Strip, or West Bank. Individuals holding permanent residence status in the United States (including U.S. citizens and green card holders) are not eligible.

You should describe how your participation would contribute to your general professional development and your teaching of U.S. Studies (for example: enhanced knowledge/expertise, new curriculum ideas, career advancement, publications, networking opportunities). How might you share your experience with others at home both in your institution and community? What else should we know about you?
