International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS),Australia

The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) scheme is funded by the Australian Government and provides tuition fees to top quality international postgraduate students who wish to enrol in a research degree at Australian universities.

Applications are assessed on academic merit and research potential. In addition to the IPRS, the University of Sydney awards an International Postgraduate Award (IPA) to IPRS holders. The IPA provides a stipend/living allowance to all IPRS recipients.

The IPRS is available to students commencing in both the March and July Semesters. Students must indicate that they would like to be considered for the IPRS by completing the relevant section of the Postgraduate Research Application form (271kb pdf). To be considered for the award, applications MUST be received by the International Student Office by:

- 31 July of the previous year for Semester 1 (March) commencement
- 31 December of the previous year for Semester 2 (July) commencement

To be eligible for the IPRS, you must:

Be an international student commencing full time enrolment in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at this University.
If you commenced your HDR in the previous year, but due to the timing of your application and subsequent enrolment were unable to be considered for an IPRS, you may apply and be considered for an IPRS during the current round of IPRS application.
Students in this situation should complete the IPRS Special Application Form (112kb pdf). This form MUST be received at the International Student Office by 31 August of the current year.
Be a student undertaking study in a subject area identified by the University as within the areas of its current and emerging research strengths.
Not hold a research qualification regarded to be equivalent to an Australian Research Doctorate degree, or, if undertaking a Research Master's degree, not hold a research qualification regarded to be equivalent to or higher than an Australian Research Masters degree.
Not have held an AusAID scholarship within two years prior to commencing the IPRS.
Not be receiving a scholarship for which course tuition is a component under any other scholarship scheme to which the Australian Government makes a substantial contribution.
Not previously have received an IPRS, unless the previous IPRS was for a Master by Research degree that you have completed and you are now applying for a doctorate research degree.

The University awards approximately 30 IPRS awards each year. Successful candidates will be notified in:

– late October/early November for Semester 1 (March) commencement
– April for Semester 2 (July) commencement

Note that only successful applicants will be notified.

In addition to the IPRS awards, commencing students may also be considered for the University of Sydney International Scholarship (USydIS). The USydIS is open to all research disciplines, however participation in the USydIS program each semester is at the discretion of the Dean of each Faculty. No application form for the USydIS is required and eligible applicants will be considered during the IPRS selection process in October/November for scholarships to commence in Semester 1 (March), and in early April for scholarships to commence in Semester 2 (July).

The USydIS will cover tuition fees and a living allowance similar to the IPRS.

UK: Santander Scholarships 2012-13 at Oxford Brookes University

This year a number of awards will be made to students starting their programmes in September 2012. Successful applicants will also receive a further 10% discount on their tuition fees from Oxford Brookes.

Funding is offered to students who are graduating from or who have graduated from named universities in the UK, China, Latin-America, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, and the USA. The scholarship fund aims to reward the most academically gifted students from these institutions.

To apply you must be:

* studying at, or a graduate from, a university in the Santander Universidades Scheme

* expecting to have, or already have, a good UK bachelor honours degree or equivalent degree from your home country

* in possession of a formal offer for a full-time master’s degree at Oxford Brookes University for the following year.

2012 Dulverton Scholarship for International Students at University of Oxford

The Dulverton Trust is an independent charitable grant-making organisation established by Deed in 1949 by the 1st Lord Dulverton. These awards, funded by the Dulverton Trust, are offered to students from Central/Eastern Europe who otherwise would not be able to afford to come to Oxford University.

Eligibility

Candidates should be applying to start a one year Master’s course within the University’s Medical Sciences, Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences, Humanties and Social Sciences. Only full-time courses are eligible. Deferred students are not eligible.

Sweden:Swedish Institute Study Scholarships 2012 for Developing Country Students

The Swedish Institute provides scholarships in Sweden to highly-qualified international students from developing countries who wants to study at Sweden Universities.Scholarships are intended for studies in Sweden starting in the fall semester 2012 (August) and focus mainly on master’s level. A few scholarships will be awarded for studies at bachelor’s level

Eligibility:

The scholarships are intended for students from the above-mentioned target group for full time studies in Sweden. There is no age limit for scholarship holders.

Scholarships cannot be granted for students who:

• Have already lived in Sweden for two years or more previous to the scholarship period.
• Have a Swedish permanent residence or work permit.
• Have previously been awarded a Swedish Institute scholarship for studies at Master’s level or for research at a Swedish university.
• Already hold a Master’s degree from a Swedish university/university college.
• Are currently enrolled in a study program on Bachelor’s or Master’s level at a Swedish university or university college.

Please note that in order to apply for a Swedish Institute Study scholarship the student must first be admitted to a Swedish university/university college. The application period for study programs opens 1 December 2011 until 16 January 2012 (for most programs).

UK:Eira Francis Davies Scholarship 2012 at Swansea University

Female students ordinarily resident in a developing country who are admitted to pursue an undergraduate or a Taught Master’s postgraduate course at Swansea University shall be eligible to apply for the Eira Francis Davies Scholarship. The Eira Francis Davies Scholarship, which shall be awarded from time to time by the Senate on the basis of academic merit and/or financial need and which shall contribute to tuition fees, shall be tenable for such period as determined by the Senate and shall be subject to satisfactory academic progress and to such other terms and conditions as the University shall stipulate. It is a condition of the award of the Eira Francis Davies Scholarship that the student agrees to return to her country for work or study upon completion of degree studies at Swansea University.

Eligibility:

- Candidates must be new, full-time, degree seeking, non-EU applicants
-Candidates must have completed an application to study and accepted the offer of a place at Swansea University
-Candidates must show strong academic ability and financial need
-Candidates should not be eligible for other financial support from Swansea University

Canada:Master’s and Doctoral Scholarship 2012-2013 for Canadian and International citizen at University of Waterloo

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program encourages excellence in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels. It is a merit-based scholarship and awards are available to students in all disciplines of academic study. Students must refer to the OGS website for complete details regarding eligibility and application submission. An Ontario Graduate Scholarship is awarded for one academic year, which may consist of two or three consecutive terms. One-term awards are not granted. The value of the OGS is $5,000 per term. Thus, students may receive $10,000 for two consecutive terms or $15,000 for three consecutive terms.

Eligibility:

• Plan to be enrolled full-time in a graduate program at an Ontario university
• Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person’s or an international student studying on a study permit
• A- (80%) average over the last two years of study if less than two years of graduate work OR the cumulative graduate average, if more than two years
• Students can receive up to 2 OGS awards at the master’s level (the scholarship can be awarded for one or both of the first two academic years, but not after the second year) and up to 4 awards at the doctoral level (the scholarship can be awarded in any of the first five academic years but not after the fifth year)
• one cannot hold a scholarship from NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR or an OGSST at the same time as OGS
• Have not exceeded the lifetime maximum of four years of government-funded awards including OGS, and awards from CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC.

Australia:Sydney Achievers International Scholarships

30 scholarships of AUD$10,000 each, available as a one-off award (total value AUD$10,000) for any Postgraduate Coursework program offered at the University of Sydney.

No living allowance is payable.

Criteria for Eligibility
Applicants must have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree qualification with a minimum high distinction average as based on the Australian grading system. Students who have already commenced postgraduate studies, or students transferring from other postgraduate programs are not eligible.

Application Procedure

No separate application for a scholarship is necessary. An Application for Admission to the University of Sydney in 2012 will constitute an application for a scholarship. All applications meeting the selection and eligibility criteria will be automatically considered.

The deadline for receipt of applications and complete supporting documentation (academic and English language proficiency results) is 31 October 2011 for Semester 1, 2012, and 30 April 2012 (for Semester 2, 2012). Applications received after these deadlines will not be considered.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based strictly on academic merit as per the University’s admission requirements. Selection will be based on actual results (academic and English language proficiency). Predicted/forecast results will not be considered.

Only applicants with firm, unconditional offers of admission will be considered.

Selection will be made by the University’s Scholarship Selection Committee, whose decision will be final. No appeals will be entertained.

Successful candidates will be informed in December 2011 (Semester 1, 2012) and June 2012 (Semester 2. 2012). Successful candidates applying through UAC will be informed in January 2012.

Conditions
Undergraduate scholarship recipients will need to maintain satisfactory academic progress, which, for the purposes of retaining the scholarship, is defined as maintaining a credit average (at least 65%) or more each year. Failure to do so may result in the scholarship being terminated.

Successful candidates:

must not be in receipt of any other tuition scholarship;
must commence study in 2012 – commencement may not be deferred;
will be required to pay for their own airfares to Sydney, living expenses, study materials, text books, any ancillary fees (if applicable) and Overseas Student Health Cover each year;
are also responsible for paying the balance of the tuition fees each year;
are required to enrol as full-time international students and must maintain their international student status on a full-time basis throughout their enrolment at the University of Sydney; and
may not be entitled to a ‘Leave of Absence’ during the duration of the scholarship, unless it is due to extenuating circumstances.

The University of Sydney reserves the right to make changes to this scholarships program without notice and at its discretion.

Australia:Sydney Law School Foundation International Scholarships

The Sydney Law School Foundation established a limited number of scholarships in 2011 to support outstanding international students undertaking a Master by Coursework program with the Sydney Law School.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

Have accepted an unconditional offer of admission to a Master by Coursework program.
Have a minimum IELTS or equivalent for the Master by Coursework: 7.0 IELTS with no band below 6.0;
Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, and may not hold permanent residency in Australia.
Not be in receipt of any other tuition scholarship.

Conditions of Award

The Sydney Law School Foundation International Scholarship is worth AU$10,000 payable in two equal instalments in late March and late August in the first year of study.

Commencement Date

Scholarships are awarded on the basis that the student will commence study in the academic year for which it is offered, and for the program in which a place has been offered in the Sydney Law School.

The scholarship is limited to one year.

Czech Republic Government Scholarships 2012-2013 for Foreign Nationals from Developing Countries at Bachelor and Master’s Level

The Government of the Czech Republic offers a number of scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Assistance Programme in support of the study of foreign nationals from developing countries at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic.

Eligibility:

-Bachelor: Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates from upper secondary schools who can enrol only in study programmes in which they follow instruction in the Czech language. Depending on the subject area, applicants are normally required to take entrance examinations at the respective institution of higher education. The scholarship award is conditional upon a successful passing of entrance examinations;

-Master study programmes or Doctoral study programmes. Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates of Bachelor or Master study programmes, respectively, who enrol in study programmes with instruction in the English language.

Erasmus Mundus (SELECT) Scholarships for International Students

The master's programme in Environomical Pathways for Sustainable Energy Systems (SELECT) offers advanced education in the field of sustainable energy systems for the future. New Zealand:2012 Dame Te Atairangikaahu Nursing Scholarship at Waikato Institute of Technology

The Dame Te Atairangikaahu Nursing Scholarships were established in 2006 by the Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) at Turangawaewae on the occasion of the conferment of Wintec’s Honorary Fellowship to Dame Te Atairangikaahu. The first Scholarship was awarded in 2007. The purpose of the Scholarship is to assist Tainui students to undertake full-time study, towards an undergraduate Nursing qualification, Midwifery degree, or a postgraduate nursing qualification (specified below) in the School of Health, Wintec. The Scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, personal character and involvement in cultural and community life. A Scholarship will be awarded each year, at a maximum value of $5,000 per year. The tenure of each Scholarship is for three years for a degree, eighteen months for the diploma, or up to two years for a postgraduate qualification.

Eligibility:

1.Candidates for the Scholarship must be registered on the Tainui roll.
2. Each Scholarship holder shall be enrolled in one of the following Waikato Institute of Technology qualifications for 2012

USA:Fujitsu Scholarship for Asia-Pacific Region Applicants

Fujitsu Limited established the Fujitsu Scholarship Program in 1985 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its founding. The aim was to provide the opportunity for people from the Asia-Pacific region to contribute to the region through studying different values, cultures, and global business. This has been a Fujitsu’s key initiative for deepening the relationships between the countries and citizens of the Asia-Pacific region. This scholarship has since enabled 420 professionals from 18 countries to study cross-cultural management at JAIMS, the Japan-America Institute of Management Science, in Hawaii, U.S.A. The Fujitsu Scholarship provides full financial assistance for postgraduate education and cross-cultural management training in the East-West Knowledge Leaders Program (EWKLP) at JAIMS. The EWKLP has a three-month curriculum, which synthesizes the best practices of both the East and West. The participants will sharpen their global management knowledge and skills, and build the confidence necessary for success in global business situations. 2012 The AP-Google Journalism and Technology Scholarship for The USA Citizens

The AP-Google Journalism and Technology Scholarship Program fosters new journalism skills in undergraduate and graduate students developing projects at the intersection of journalism and technology. Have you created original journalistic content with computer science elements? Are you thinking up new ways to tell a story with technology? Are you a “techie” who knows how to construct a journalistic story through multimedia? We’re looking for students pursuing studies at the crossroads of journalism, computer sciences and new media. If you’re on the cutting edge of digital media beyond the classroom, this scholarship is for you!

Students from diverse backgrounds, as well as those attending rural-area institutions, are strongly encouraged to apply. A selected number of scholarships will be based on financial need.

Eligibility

Be a U.S. citizen
Be a minimum of 18 years of age
Be currently enrolled full time at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. (College graduates returning to school are eligible to apply and must provide an acceptance letter from graduate institution.)
Have at least one year of full-time undergraduate or graduate study remaining
Have minimum grade point average of 3.0

AWARD

Six students will receive scholarship awards of $20,000 each for the 2012-13 academic year. Half of the award will be granted in the first semester. The remainder will be awarded in the second semester upon proof of project proposal update and maintenance of a 3.0 GPA. Awards will be made payable to the post-secondary institution.

Scholarship winners also will receive a one-year ONA membership and recognition at ONA’s 2012 conference in San Francisco.

Quota Scholarship Scheme for Developing Countries in Norway

The Norwegian government provides students from developing countries in the South and countries in the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and in Central Asia with financial support to study for a degree in Norway under the Quota Scheme.

The main objective of the Quota Scheme is to contribute to capacity building through education that will benefit the home country of the students when they return. The Quota Scheme is also intended to strengthen relations between Norway and the selected countries and thus contribute to internationalisation at Norwegian institutions of higher education.

Most universities and university colleges in Norway participate in the Quota scheme. The institutions involved are allocated a certain number of students under the programme each year. The scheme normally includes courses at Master’s and Ph.D. level in addition to certain professional/Bachelor’s degrees. Most of the Norwegian institutions offer courses and educational programmes in English.

Commonwealth Scholarships for developing Commonwealth Country Citizens

Commonwealth Scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries for Master’s, PhD, and split-site (PhD) study in the UK. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

There is a nominating agency for Commonwealth Scholarships in each Commonwealth country. In addition, universities and university bodies in a number of developing Commonwealth countries are invited to nominate candidates to the CSC.

Each year, the CSC invites each nominating agency/university/university body to forward a specific number of nominations. Each nominating agency/university/university body is responsible for its own selection process, and in most cases they will set a closing date in the months preceding the CSC’s deadline for nominations (21 December 2011).

Approximately 200-230 scholarships are awarded each year. The CSC invites around three times more nominations than scholarships available – therefore, nominated candidates are not guaranteed to get a scholarship. There are no quotas for scholarships for any individual country. Candidates nominated by national nominating agencies are in competition with those nominated by universities/university bodies, and the same standards will be applied to applications made through either channel.

You can apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship for the following levels of study:

PhD
Split-site, where the CSC supports one year’s study at a UK university as part of a PhD being undertaken in your home country

All subject areas are eligible, although the CSC’s selection criteria give priority to those applications that demonstrate strong relevance to development.

You are requested to apply for a course of study at a UK university which has agreed to offer a tuition fee contribution.

How to apply

All applications must be made through your nominating agency (or university/university body, if applicable) in your home country. You must check with them in the first instance for specific advice on how to make an application and for their own closing dates. The CSC cannot accept any applications direct from candidates.

The CSC expects all candidates being considered for a Commonwealth Scholarship to be nominated by an approved nominating agency/university/university body, and to have completed an application form using our Electronic Application System (EAS).

Danish Government Scholarships Per Year

Danish higher education institutions receive a limited number of government scholarships each year to fund highly qualified full-degree students from non-EU/EEA countries or Switzerland.

In order to be eligible for a scholarship you must be:

a citizen of a country outside the EU, the European Economic Area or Switzerland
enrolled in a full degree higher education programme
granted a time-limited residence permit in Denmark due to education

You are not eligible for a scholarship if you are:

studying in Denmark on the grounds of a bilateral exchange agreement
have a legal claim to the rights of Danish citizens
have been granted a residence permit at the time of admission by the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act §9c, subsection 1, as the child of a foreign citizen who has been granted a residence permit in accordance with the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act §9a, and who is a citizen of a country that is not acceded to the EU or covered by the EEA agreement
are a student who is eligible for a grant in accordance with Danish Law regarding the State Education Fund

The scholarships are administered by the higher education institutions, who individually decide which students are selected to receive a scholarship. For further information about the governement scholarship, please consult the higher education institution’s admission details.

Please note: the government scholarship consists of two parts and can be given as full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or grants towards covering your living costs. However, as the scholarships are administered by the individual institution, you should enquire about further details at the higher education institution of your choice.Link

UK:International Academic Excellence Scholarships at University of Exeter

The College has a limited number of £5,000 International Academic Excellence Scholarships, awarded competitively according to academic merit.Scholarships will be awarded as a reduction in the international student fee and will be applied following successful registration on an eligible Masters programme.

This scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other College scholarship with the exception of the English Language Scholarship. In the event of a candidate being eligible for more than one award the one of higher value will be honoured.Applications will only be considered from applicants who have received an offer of a place on one of the eligible programmes.

IOR-ARC Scholarship 2010-11,India

The Indian Council for Cultural. Relations offers two slots under the. IOR-ARC Scholarship to meritorious students from Bangladesh for studies in the Post Graduate courses in Indian Universities during the academic session 2011-2012.

Further information along with application forms for these scholarships may be collected from the Education Wing, High Commission of India, House No. 2, Road No. 142 Gulshan-1, Dhaka-1212 on any working day between 10:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs.

Special Note

Candidate’s arc requested to bring along photocopies of the mark sheet of the last qualifying examination for collection of application forms. Forms can also be collected from Assistant High commission of India at Chittagong and Rajahahl.

The last date of receipt of completed application forms at High Commission of India, Dhaka and Assistant High Commission of India, Chittagong / Rajshahi is 10 February, 2011.
